Beloved picture book

The boys love the Little Bear stories by Martin Waddell illustrated by Barbara Firth. Especially "Can't you sleep little bear?". They've read it to rags. So I bought a new one, since the old one was falling apart but I didn't want to throw it away. So I just cut out four pages following the story line. Then I made a photo mount for each picture with thick drawing paper and put everything in Ikea Fanaholm frames. Simple and cheap AND IT LOOKS GREAT!

Done

The quilts are done. And have been so for at least a month. The boys love them. They are actually really simple because I wanted them to fit with any decoration theme in the boys room, so I chose four different patterns of checks and stripes in the same colours. The fabric is the Westfalen Cambridge line and it's really a great quality to work with.

Bliss

This landed on my doorstep just half an hour ago. Yards and yards of fabric from wonderful Charlotta (who is by rights a Karin Fuchs but somehow always is Charlotta to me). She has a fantastic choice of fabric in her online store and there's always a little VERY appreciated litttle extra in her parcels. Love that.
I'm going to spend the rest of the day just looking happily over all those treasures planning what exactly I'm going to do with them.
Life is great.

Aqua blue perfection

Remeber the vintage fabric I write about a few weeks ago? Well, the aqua blue one is just the same colour as the blue Ikea bowls I (discreetly) bought some time ago. So I'll make some placemats, and maybe a table runner. With the addition of flax linnen and white ricrac, it should be really pretty. I love ricrac. Weird how satisfying pretty things are, even if it's just placemats!

Rainy day

See? Everything to make me happy on a rainy evening!
It rained all day so I couldn't go out with the boys who definitely needed to work off their energy. So we spent the day in the kitchen, Tilman stirring and mixing and weighing, and Arthur making sure that everything eatable, he didn't starve today. One batch of cookies was slightly burned but Tilman declared he liked "toasted cookies". How sweet is that?

Thoughtful

The last days have been very busy. I worked as much as possible on the patchwork quilts for the boys' bedroom, but between kids, cooking and cleaning I didn't get as much done as I would have liked to. One quilt is completely finished and the other is ready for quilting and binding which may take another week at least since I do it by hand. I like to spend hours sewing, inventing stories and games for the boys.
Next week I'll be alone for a couple of days, the boys will be off with their Daddy to the mountains skiing. It will be restful just to be alone with myself. Maybe I'll sew, maybe I'll read, maybe I'll just look out of the window doing nothing at all ...

Old books

Every now and then my grandfather gives me one of the old books he got from an uncle who had an extensive library a long time ago. All those books are so well kept they almost seem to be new. I like this one which is a 1931 Macmillan edition, "Thy Servant a Dog" by Rudyard Kipling. The illustrations by G. L. Stampa are just great. And this book smells so good. I'll think I'll get some copies of the pictures and get them framed.
